Angels of '97 2009 Spaghetti Dinner

Saturday, March 21st.

A big thanks to all who came out on a rainy Saturday to support Angels of ’97 Spaghetti Dinner, March 15th, 2008.  We appreciate your support of our Craft Bazaar, Vendor Fair, Sports and Cheerleader Clinics, and the Auction.  Also a big thanks to all our volunteers, both adults and students, North Mecklenburg and Hopewell.  We couldn’t have done it without you!!!!!

What’s next?  Our Angels of ’97 Golf Tournament

September 19th, 2008

Angels of ’97 began in 1997 to honor the lives of five students who graduated in spirit only from the North Mecklenburg Class of ’97.  Angels of ’97 has grown in the past years to provide nearly $200,000 to local High School students to assist with higher education.   The organization has expanded over the years to outreach to other families in our community that have suffered the loss of a child or sibling.

Thank you for your help in our efforts to raise scholarship funds while honoring members of our youth.  Without the support of the media, we would not be where we are today.

Purpose and Mission Statements:

This Faith Based volunteer organization fulfills its overall purpose with two fundraisers and a support group.

Every 3rd Saturday in March is the Spaghetti Dinner & Auction. The first annual was held in 1997 at
North Mecklenburg High School.

The First Annual Captain's Choice Golf Tournament, "Puttin' Fore a Purpose"  was held on Aug 20th of 2004.    Each year, the five Angels of '97 and thirteen other area children and educators are honored at each hole with a hole dedication sign designed by parents and loved ones.

September 23rd 2004 marked the beginning of a new, year round Support Group for parents who have lost children known as the Angels of 97 Ministries. The group meets in the
North Mecklenburg area. The first candle light memorial service was held on Dec 3rd, 2004.

Why an Angels of '97 Memorial Scholarship?

The graduating class of 1997 from
North Meck High School suffered the loss of several of its classmates. Between their 10th and 12th grades, this class lost 5 of their classmates to car accidents and illness. Family members as well as friends use a community involved spaghetti dinner to raise money to offer scholarships to North Meck Seniors.

A Support Group for parents who have lost children known as the Angels of 97 Ministries began in 2004.

North Meck & Hopewell Seniors may pick up
applications in the guidance office
